Family Holidays in Devon

Devon is the third largest county in England and remains one of the favourite holiday destinations in the UK with its two coastlines, fantastic weather and two national parks.

North Devon, that also contains Exmoor national park has many sandy beaches. For example, Croyde is famous for surfing. There are nature reserves and the coastal path follows dramatic cliffs and tiny coves.

South Devon has many beautiful beaches and lovely old towns. It is famous for long warm summers and mild winters.

West Devon and the national park at Dartmoor are famous for their ponies. The military use Dartmoor as a training ground and the River Dart has the best canoeing in the country. Exeter and East Devon are famous for Devon cream teas and weekly farmers markets. Exeter is a splendid example of a cathedral city and there are plenty of superb sandy beaches in the area.

Plymouth is a modern city where there are plenty of wonderful shops, restaurants, clubs and bars. There is also the historic port where the Pilgrim Fathers left for America.

Cruise into Plymouth Sound and see Devonport Royal Dockyard with its nuclear submarines and frigates.

The English Riviera, that includes Torquay, Paignton and Brixham, has a mild climate and wonderful sandy beaches with plenty for the whole family to do.
