Family Holidays in South Wales
South Wales is an area that is bordered by England and the Bristol Channel to the south and East and West Wales and Mid Wales to the West and North. There are two big cities - Cardiff, the capital of Wales and Swansea, the second largest city.
You will find there is plenty of countryside to explore and beaches to relax on in South Wales.
There is the Brecon Beacons National Park where activities such as horse riding, cycling, canoeing, gorge walking and walking can take place. For the keen shoppers, there is excellent shopping in Cardiff and Swansea to be had.
In 1999 the Cardiff Bay area that had been docklands was transformed into an area of tidal mudflats by the construction of a Barrage. This turned the area into a huge freshwater lake that is a haven for sailing and watersports, restaurants and bars.
The Millenium Stadium is based in Cardiff and Doctor Who fans can see where that series and Torchwood were filmed. You can also see 1940's Swansea with the sights and sounds of World War II.
Barry Island and the Gower Peninsular have good sandy beaches.
